Well, hello!

Here it is. My first blog post. High Five!

As stated in my About page, this blog is where I will be gathering thoughts, spotlights, and videos of the people, places, and organizations that do the work to support, enable, and influence artists and their creative process, specifically. It’s about what goes into supporting the generation of an idea, the research and development, the experimentation, and the community of art making.

I am based in Boston and will certainly be investigating all that is local here but this project is not solely focused on Boston or New England. I have met some fantastic people who are working with innovative and heroic programs and projects for artists all over the country and I want to dig into it. I’ll also include some artwork and artist profiles along the way to keep my eye on the prize.  I know in time and with practice the focus of this blog will become sharper and my voice clearer but for now it’s just time to put it out there into the wide world. Let me know what you think.

For inspiration, here’s a great video documenting the art-making process of Anna Hepler.

Makeshift is a short documentary following the making of her exhibition at the Portland Museum of Art by David Camlin and Petra Simmons, August 2010.

Thanks for checking it out. Please check back regularly. I’ve set some goals for myself and I intend to get on’em.
